She is the second child of her family abided one elder sister and two younger brothers. When she was a child she had to move to Bahrain due to the civil war started in Sri Lanka. When she was having her primary education in Bahrain she was keen in extra curricular activities such as Athletics and Drama. Because of her preference of cultures and languages, she joined the Berlitz School of languages. In there she got the fluency of Spanish, French and Arabic and she also learned riding horses. After her education in Bahrain she flied to Australia for her degree in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia.
She competed for Miss Universe in 2006. She has worked for "Lanka BusinessReport" as an anchorwoman. Now she writes a weekly column for “daily mirror”. She also runs a non-profit organization in Sri Lanka which has the intention of empowering the underprivileged.Motto of her life is "Being independent and accomplished was imperative to me and I always demanded the best of myself. Perfectionism is my strongest asset".
